Today we inaugurate a new section in which we want to show the most human side of our company: “A Madeplax day with...”. A space to get to know closely the people who make possible each project, each advance and each achievement within the Madeplax Group.
Your role in management
In this first installment, we talk to our Deputy Director, a key figure in the evolution of the group over the past 18 years. When asked how he would describe his role within the company, he sums it up honestly: being part of the management team is “a source of pride and, at the same time, a great responsibility”. The growth of the team and the magnitude of the current projects mean that decisions are not as easy as they used to be. That's why he insists on the importance of listening, evaluating options and acting with perspective, because “in many cases nothing is black and white. Even so, there is something he especially enjoys: ”sharing with the team every decision and every new project“, because that is where the future of Madeplax is really built.
His vision of leadership
His vision of leadership is based on listening, staying calm and avoiding rushing. “Improvisation and haste often lead to mistakes,” he says. He also stresses the importance of the team feeling that there is a management that values their work, dedication and performance. This is the only way to build respect, collaboration and commitment.
18 years of challenges and evolution
His career at Madeplax has been marked by constant challenges. From internationalization in the midst of the economic crisis to the transformation of the business model -from wood carpentry to contract projects-, each stage has been a learning experience. In recent years, the portfolio has expanded significantly, incorporating aluminum and glass carpentry: windows, railings, screens, mirrors, stairs and more. Even so, he assures that “the biggest challenge is yet to come,” with new facilities and machinery that will once again transform the company.
Madeplax culture
When we ask him to define the Madeplax culture in one sentence, he sticks with a classic: “A complete service in a single center”. A historical slogan that still reflects the essence with which Mr. Tolosa founded the company: comprehensive service, knowledge, experience and technology.
A special project: Safragell
Among emblematic projects such as the Ibiza Airport, the Parador de Turismo or luxury hotels around the world, a small but very special one stands out: the Safragell agritourism. The client's trust allowed for meticulous and careful work, the result of which was “the client's total satisfaction... and mine too”.
Motivation and teamwork
Working with a young and eager to learn team makes motivation flow naturally. Every project is experienced as an opportunity. Even when someone asks to do something “easy,” he says with a chuckle, they know that what really drives the team are the new challenges. Involving everyone in the selection, planning and execution of projects is key to making each person feel part of the process.
Training and attitude
Continuous training will be essential in the coming years. But above all, he emphasizes one value: “Aptitude is important, but without a doubt the most important thing is ATTITUDE”.
A more personal side
On a more personal level, he acknowledges that he can sometimes appear nervous or grumpy, but asks for understanding: pressure and difficult decisions are part of everyday life. His goal is clear: to be seen as a close, responsible and approachable colleague.
Advice for new colleagues
His advice for those who join Madeplax is direct: attitude. Nobody arrives knowing everything, but with predisposition and desire, everything can be achieved.
Objective for this year
For this year, his goal is to consolidate the group's growth and maintain the strength of the team. “From my position, I will do my best to contribute to that.”
