Behind every great architectural project, every imposing structure, and every custom solution that comes out of our workshops, there is work that is invisible yet indispensable: transform abstract ideas into precise, viable, and achievable data.

In this new installment of A Day at Madeplax, we take a look inside the technical department with Inés Salas García, a budgeting technique. Through it, we discover the subtle art of interpreting blueprints, solving architectural puzzles, and ensuring that technical precision is the cornerstone of every project.

Starting the Day: Organization, Priorities, and the Big Picture

For Inés, no two mornings are alike, but they all begin the same way: by bringing order to the initial chaos. Right from the start, the key is to organize the flow of information coming in from the various offices and determine what requires immediate attention.

“My day starts with getting organized: I check WhatsApp to coordinate with the regional offices, then my emails to see what budget requests have come in and what urgent matters there are. I meet with the department to set priorities, and we organize the workload.”

In a company with an international presence and multiple locations, coordinating urgent matters and organizing the workload from the very beginning is what allows the entire operation to run smoothly.

From Drafting to the Challenge of Technical Carpentry

Her professional calling took root among construction blueprints, but it was only when she gained firsthand experience with the day-to-day operations of the company that she discovered an aspect of the industry that ultimately captivated her completely.

“I studied to become a construction draftsman and completed my internship at the company. That’s where I discovered technical carpentry: a largely unexplored, highly innovative field with real challenges that captivated me from the start.”

That curiosity about innovation led her to specialize in a field where technical rigor constantly intersects with cutting-edge architectural design.

The Keys to Precision in Custom Projects

Preparing budgets for unique projects requires much more than simply adding up numbers or applying standardized templates; it requires an analytical eye capable of deciphering what isn't always specified on paper.

“Organization, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical information that is sometimes incomplete or contradictory. It’s also essential to know how to summarize, spot inconsistencies, and anticipate problems…”

Inés's meticulousness transforms the initial uncertainty of a conceptual plan into a solid technical proposal, detecting and identifying unforeseen issues long before the order reaches the manufacturing phase.

The bridge between the architect's vision and the reality of the workshop

The budgeting department serves as the true link between the architectural firms, the construction management team, and the Madeplax Group's production chain.

“My role is to turn their ideas into viable solutions: reviewing measurements, systems, hardware, and finishes, and identifying potential issues. When there are questions, I contact the architect, the site manager, or the client to clarify requirements. Then, once the budget is approved, I explain each line item to the production team so that everything is clear from the start.”

Thanks to this ongoing support and dialogue, even the most ambitious designs find the right technical path to become a reality without any surprises on the job site.

Pushing the Boundaries of the Ordinary: The Satisfaction of Overcoming a Technical Challenge

When she looks back on the most complex or rewarding projects she has worked on, Inés recalls with particular pride a challenge in which coordination with the workshop was the key to success.

“One of the most complex projects was a corner sliding door measuring 13.5 m + 4.5 m and 3 m high, for which no standard system could accommodate those dimensions. Together with the production team, we developed a solution featuring a concealed track and special reinforcements. It was a huge technical challenge, and it was very rewarding to see that it worked.”

Figuring out on paper what seems impossible at first glance and then seeing it installed and working perfectly is the greatest reward for the technical team.

A collaborative culture and mutual support within the team

Faced with tight deadlines and last-minute quotes, the atmosphere within the Madeplax technical team is built on direct communication and camaraderie.

“Collaboration among staff members when the workload spikes. When we receive six or seven urgent quotes in a single day, we all pitch in to get them out on time. I also value direct communication and the ability to solve problems together.”

Restraint and Strategy in the Face of Tight Deadlines

Project and budget management go hand in hand with dealing with work spikes and tight deadlines. Keeping a cool head and following a step-by-step approach is essential.

“When I have a heavy workload or tight deadlines, I stay organized and break the work down by priority. I focus on making progress without sacrificing accuracy, and, if necessary, I reassign tasks to ensure that everything is completed on time and done right.”

Advice from Experience for Beginners

For the new generations entering the field of technical carpentry and project evaluation, Inés shares a realistic perspective focused on continuous learning.

“May he learn to read blueprints, interpret technical reports, and ask questions without fear. May he be organized, double-check everything, and understand that a good budget prevents many problems on the job site. And may he have patience: experience is built one project at a time.”

Growing Without Losing Our Technical Essence

Inés approaches her professional future with the same enthusiasm and dedication with which she tackles every new project that lands on her desk.

“I like to keep growing, take on increasingly interesting projects, and help improve the way we work. My goal is to advance within the industry without losing sight of the technical aspects that I truly enjoy.”

With his thoroughness, his analytical skills, and his approachable manner in day-to-day interactions, Inés Salas embodies Grupo Madeplax's commitment to excellence from the very first stroke. Thanks to their work, the technical complexity of each drawing is transformed into peace of mind, security, and real solutions for our clients.
