In these days when female talent is in the limelight, the interview with our corporate CEO at Las Provincias invites us to take a closer look at the essence of leadership that drives the Madeplax Group. Her approach to business - close, courageous and people-oriented - reflects the spirit in which we continue to grow and transform. To read her is to look into a vision that combines experience, sensitivity and an energy that inspires the entire team.

Susana Tolosa, Corporate CEO of Madeplax Group.

Madeplax Group is a company with a solid and long history in the field of integral carpentry, specialized in the design, manufacture and installation of products and structures in wood, aluminum, glass and steel. Our team has more than 58 years of experience and has participated in large-scale projects for hotels, construction companies and spaces that demand precision, quality and impeccable technical support. My job as general manager is to ensure that this essence - excellence, proximity and commitment to our team, suppliers and clients - continues to be the driving force behind everything we do. We are committed to continuous training, efficiency and a service that goes beyond the installation: we accompany each project from start to finish.

-What are the keys to your leadership?

-I believe that leadership rests on three pillars:

Active listening, because a company grows when it understands its team and its customers.

Clarity and consistency, so that every decision has meaning and direction.

Culture of constant improvement, where we all know that we can evolve, learn and contribute.

I believe in leadership that does not impose, but inspires. That is not based on rigid hierarchies, but on shared responsibility.

-How has the fact that you are a woman influenced the way you manage the company?

-Being a woman has given me a special sensitivity to manage with empathy, global vision and the ability to anticipate needs.

I have learned to transform the difference into strength: to bring a more human, more strategic and more oriented to relational quality, not only to the technical.

It is not about leading “like a woman”, but about leading from who I am, with authenticity.

-As a businesswoman, you are a reference for many young women. What advice would you give them when it comes to setting up and managing their own business?

-I would tell you three very simple, but very important things:

Surround yourself well: a good team is not a luxury, it is the basis of everything.

Don't wait until you feel “ready”: security comes by doing, not before.

Set limits and priorities: entrepreneurship is not about doing everything, it is about knowing what is essential.

And, above all, that they do not ask permission to occupy spaces. Talent has no gender.

-In your industry, are there many companies led/founded by women? What can female leadership bring to the industry?

-In our sector we are becoming more and more, and we are occupying key positions quite naturally. I don't think that being a woman gives you a different perspective in itself; what makes the difference is the way you work, your preparation and ability to take on challenges. What a female presence does bring is real diversity in decision making, and that always improves any industry. When different leadership styles come together, companies become more agile, more modern and better able to adapt to a fast-changing market. The construction industry needs just that, more talent and more variety in the way it leads and also in the way it executes.

-What measures do you consider necessary to advance real equality?

-Real equality is not only achieved with laws, but also with culture.

We need:

Effective reconciliation, not symbolic.

Leadership training from an early age.

Visibility of referents, so that from an early age we see that everything is possible.

Transparent selection and promotion processes, where merit is the main criterion.

Equality is not a destination, it is a daily work.

-Given the current situation, what benefits can the female vision bring?

-More than a feminine vision, what brings value today is a leadership style capable of combining firmness with clarity, and strategy with practicality. Many of us women at the helm of companies have learned to move in complex environments with a mix of realism and adaptability that is very useful in times of uncertainty. This way of leading - more oriented toward collaboration, anticipation and sustainable decision-making - helps companies stay on course without losing sight of the people who make them possible. In changing times, this way of managing brings stability and focus.
